Lentinus edodes: also known as "shiitake". Lentinus edodes is grown usually on logs in the forests. It is also farmed by heavy watering, shading and manipulation of growing environments. The growing period is approximate 3 to 5 years. An intensive farming technique involving growing on synthetic logs such as sawdust and other agricultural wastes.
